Do either of your parents have a history of baldness? If so, then you too may be at risk for hair loss. According to studies, the leading cause for hair loss in both men and women is known as male pattern baldness or female pattern baldness. This form of baldness is usually identified by hair loss in the front of the scalp that moves steadily to the back and top of the head.
Male pattern baldness usually starts with a receding hairline and thinning hair. Female pattern baldness usually starts by a general thinning of the hair. The thinning becomes more noticeable in the back of the head rather than along the hairline.
Just the hereditary factor cannot be the reason for hair loss. Compulsive hair pulling or trichotillomania is a condition which may cause hair loss. If any part of the scalp is been pulled, then this condition will make that part the target. Generally this cannot be the only reason for serious alarm. The cure for this is to stop pulling the area that is been affected and automatically the hair grows.
One of the more serious conditions for hair loss would be the scarring alopecia. This condition is at risk when certain hair style shows its affect on the hair. One such hair style would be tight braids, this will cause tension on the scalp and this will lead the hair to fall out. Pulling and putting constant pressure on the scalp and the hair follicles will cause inflammation and result in scarring.
One other reason for hair loss can be the drugs or the medication prescribed which in a lesser percentage affect the hair. Medical treatments involving heart problems and medication for blood thinning are the type of drugs which will lead to hair loss.
Undergoing medical treatments like Chemotherapy also causes hair loss. The drugs prescribed for chemotherapy will stop the hair cell division and makes the hair thin and in turn they fall off pushing the follicles. When the treatment is complete the hair will re grow, but during the treatment the patient will lose hair is extra speed. Hence it is not termed as long-term hair loss.
Apart from these, there are many types of infection that may cause hair loss. One of the common fungal infections that cause hair loss infection in children is ringworm. This infection can be identified by the formation of small circular patches that appear on the scalp, and these are contagious. The area where it is infected will have the skin replaced by pink scaly looking skin. Applying the anti fungal cream to the area of infection is the cure and treatment. It will take minimum 2 to 3 weeks for this condition to get treated.
There are also people who suffer from receding hairline, that is, the hair gets thinned which leads to a bald spot on the top as well front portion of the head. This is nothing but male pattern baldness that shatters the image and personality of men. So, if you are one of them, you should take precautionary measures as soon as possible.
Now, receding hair line takes place due to various reasons. It might be the genetic factors or aging or rather due to hormones. One of the most important causes is the presence of the growth hormone in men known as Dihydrotestosterone or DHT that begins to malfunction and bring side effects on hair follicles. This leads to rapid hair loss and finally results in complete baldness. So, here are some tips and suggestions that can help you recover from receding hair line:
- Maintain a proper diet. Consume more and more nutritious foods since these are full of vitamins and proteins that provide nourishment to your hair and help them grow normally.
- It’s better if you stop using hairstyling products. Most of these products are made up with artificial ingredients that might bring negative consequences on your hair growth.
- Apply a branded hair loss shampoo. While you bathe daily, massage your scalp with a shampoo and then use a conditioner after drying your hair completely.
People who suffer from baldness need not worry any more as a number of medical solutions have proved very helpful to fight hair loss. These medications not only stop hair loss but also encourage new hair growth. If you can’t afford an expensive surgery to treat baldness you can go for these medications.
There are mainly two medications. The first is Regaine, a topical gel. It can prevent hair loss when applied day and night. The main ingredient of Regaine is Minoxidil which is used to treat hereditary hair loss. Regaine stimulates blood flow in the scalp which encourages hair growth.
The other hair loss remedy is Propecia which you can buy only if you have a doctor’s prescription. It blocks the body’s production of dihydratestosterone, one of the main reasons behind hair loss. Dihydratestosterone attacks scalp hair follicles resulting in baldness.
